Dramatic developments in the space segment in recent years include:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Considerable decrease in cost per bit\u00a0due\u00a0to the HTS (High-Throughput Satellites),<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Satellite Internet\u00a0service, which has become more accessible and widespread\u00a0as a result of\u00a0mega satellite constellations operating at medium\/low altitudes,<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Satellites that can be quickly reconfigured for many different tasks\u00a0due\u00a0to software-defined payloads,<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Launch services that have become affordable with reusable rockets.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Considering all these developments, the need to move to a scalable and flexible virtualized network environment in a short period of time in the ground segment is quite clear. If traditional technologies and methods continue to be used in the ground segment despite the current progress, flexibility and scalability;\u00a0barriers will not be overcome, and the returns of innovation in the space segment will be\u00a0substantially\u00a0limited. A fully digital and virtualized ground infrastructure can make the most of dynamically configured space segment resources and enable\u00a0impeccable\u00a0integration of satellite technology with broader telecom and cloud ecosystems. Ensuring the scalability, flexibility and durability of the ground network is much easier if the network is designed to operate in a standard digital environment.\u00a0To\u00a0create a standardized digital environment, it is necessary to transform satellite ground networks, which are commonly composed of special hardware components, into a software-defined, flexible and expandable virtual architecture.
